Torchlight Infinite cheats, trainers, macros and bots: what gets you banned
Torchlight Infinite is an online game with server-side checks and regular ban waves. Here is what XD bans for, from trainers to AutoHotkey, and what that means for bots.
Torchlight Infinite is online only. Your character, your items and the market all live on XD's servers, which changes what "cheating" can even mean here. Most of the tools sold as Torchlight Infinite cheats either do nothing useful or get accounts banned, and some do both. This is what the rules say and what actually gets people banned.

What XD's rules say
XD's position is simple: the developers want players to play the strategy and combat themselves, and any third-party plugin damages fair play, so accounts that use them get banned. Their wording names auto scripts and key macro tools directly.
That matters because it is broader than "cheats". Anything that is not part of the game and plays or presses keys for you falls under it. A macro that fires your skill rotation on one key is treated the same way as a full bot.
How players get caught
XD does not explain its detection, but a few things are clear from the game's design and from players who have been banned.
- The economy and progression are checked on the server. You cannot edit your way to FE or items, because the server never agreed you had them.
- XD runs anti-cheat monitoring and bans in waves, so an account can be flagged weeks before the ban lands.
- Steam discussions are full of players banned while AutoHotkey or similar tools were running in the background. Some say they were not even using them in the game.
Ban lengths reported by players run from 3 days up to 3,600 days, which is permanent in practice. XD does not publish the specific reason for a ban, which makes appeals hard.
The tools, one by one
Trainers and "hacks"
Trainers edit values in the game's memory on your PC. In a game where the server tracks your currency and items, that mostly does nothing, and whatever it can touch gets you flagged. The trainers that turn up on GitHub, itch.io and file sites are also a well known way to spread malware. We would not run one on a PC you log in to anything from.
Macros and AutoHotkey
Macro tools look harmless because they only press keys. XD names key macros directly in its rules, and AutoHotkey running in the background is one of the most common things banned players report. If you use AutoHotkey for other things, close it before you start the game.
Farming bots
A bot plays the game through the normal controls: it moves, uses your skills, picks up loot and starts the next map. It does not change the numbers the server tracks, so everything it earns is earned the normal way. It is still third-party automation, and still against the rules.

If you decide to use a bot
That is your call, and you should make it with the rules in front of you. If you go ahead, these habits keep the risk down.
- Do not bot on an account you cannot afford to lose.
- Keep sessions to lengths a person could believably play.
- Do not run macros, AutoHotkey or anything else next to it.
- Stay away from free trainers and cracked tools, which put your PC at risk as well as the account.
