Torchlight Infinite Pactspirits guide: how pets work and which to use
Pactspirits are the pets that add stats, drop bonuses and auto pick-up. How the two types work, what rarity changes and which drop Pactspirits farmers rate.
Pactspirits are the pets of Torchlight Infinite. You can install three Battle Pactspirits for stats and three Drop Pactspirits for loot, and any of them can follow you to pick things up. They are a small part of a character's power, but the Drop ones add up over a season of farming.
The short version
- There are two types: Battle Pactspirits for stats and Drop Pactspirits for loot. You can install three of each.
- Rarity decides how much of the Pact tree a Pactspirit changes. Legendary ones change all of it.
- Duplicates level a Pactspirit up to level 6. Many only become really good at higher levels.
- Any Pactspirit set to follow you can auto pick up loot, whether or not it is installed.
Battle and Drop Pactspirits
According to the Torchlight Infinite database, Pactspirits come in two main types, and you can install three of each.

For a farming character the Drop slots are the interesting ones. A few examples from the database show the range: Idling Weasel (Cherry Blossom) adds drop quantity and ember drops, Captain Shadow gives bosses a high chance of dropping extra embers, and Happy Chonky (Sun) adds gear drops.
Rarity and levels
Pactspirits come in Magic, Rare and Legendary rarity. The higher the rarity, the more of the Pact tree it changes: a Rare one unlocks customisation of the inner and middle rings, and a Legendary one changes every node in its area. Duplicates level a Pactspirit up, to a maximum of level 6, and upgrading a Legendary adds Pact Points and strengthens its outer ring affixes.
That last part matters when you judge one. A 2026 guide from MMOexp points out that many Pactspirits only deliver real value at level 6, so a single copy of a famous one can be worse than a modest one that works at level 1.
How to get Pactspirits
Pactspirits come from draws on banners, paid for with Primocryst or the free Jagged Primocryst. Seasons also hand them out: the Steam page lists a Legendary Battle Pactspirit selection pack for daily logins and free draws from the second week. Drop Pactspirits farmers rate
Recommendations change every season, and most published lists come from sites that also sell Flame Elementium, so treat them as a starting point. The August 2026 MMOexp guide makes these points:
- Sandlord is the most reliable level 1 Drop Pactspirit in the current meta. It gives passive income after a one-time setup and needs a login about every nine hours.
- Sparks suits players who run maps with maximum quantity rolls.
- Arcana scales poorly at level 1 and is worth it at level 6.
- Niche Pactspirits like Kong add little for normal mapping, so do not chase them with random draws.
The practical rule: fill all three Drop slots with something, even a level 1 Magic Pactspirit, before spending draws on one specific Legendary.
Auto pick-up

How much they matter
Battle Pactspirits are a modest boost. An older Gfinity estimate put them at about 5 to 10 percent of a character's power. Drop Pactspirits matter more for income than for strength: a few percent more drops, over hundreds of maps, is a lot of extra Flame Elementium.
