Scent Weaver Sage is the most recent hero added to Torchlight Infinite and has one trait so far, Licorice Note. She brews Elixir skills from ingredients you pick, which makes her one of the most flexible heroes in the game. She was A tier as a starter and S tier in the endgame at the end of SS13.

The short version

  • Sage has one trait, Licorice Note, built around brewing Elixir skills.
  • You pick two ingredients for damage or defence, and later traits add more.
  • Sage is A tier as a starter and S tier in the endgame.
  • She works with Empower and Curse skills as well as Elixirs.

Sage's traits

Sage 1: Licorice Note

Licorice Note puts a Basic Scent Bottle in your second active skill slot for brewing Elixir skills. You add two ingredients, choosing damage ones like Razor Leaf, Twinspine Flower and Scattered Spore or defensive ones like Resilient Moss, Spectral Stamen and Prismatic Vine. The level 45 node adds an ingredient that grants Charge and prepares your Empower and Curse skills. Later nodes turn excess life and mana recovery into damage, or convert maximum life and mana bonuses into Elixir effect.

Trait mechanics are summarised from the Torchlight Infinite database. Numbers change between seasons, so check the database or the in-game hero screen for current values.

Which Sage trait to pick

Sage only has one trait, so the choice is whether to play her at all. She is a strong pick: A tier as a starter and S tier in the endgame. Expect a learning curve while you work out which ingredients your build wants.

The rankings come from our Torchlight Infinite tier list, which is based on how traits finished SS13 Afterlight. Our classes guide compares Sage with every other hero.

Tips for playing Sage

  • Start with damage ingredients while leveling, then swap one for a defensive ingredient once the content gets harder.
  • Empower and Curse skills combine well with her level 45 node.
  • Read the database entry for exact ingredient numbers, since they change between seasons.

For how traits fit together with skills, talents and gear, see the builds guide.

Sage for farming

Sage farms well throughout a season. Her Elixirs can be tuned towards clear speed once your defences are in place. MUSA's Torchlight Infinite bot reads your equipped skills from the game, so it fights with whatever Sage build you have set up. Automation breaks the game's rules, and our bot safety guide explains the risk.
