Hero Siege loot filter and magic find guide

Which loot filter preset to use at each stage, what to hide, and how magic find from gear, Ether and your mercenary adds up.

The loot filter decides what you see on the ground, and magic find decides how good it is. Season 10 ships six filter presets and a highlight system, and magic find now comes from your gear, the difficulty, Ether nodes and your mercenary. Set both up properly and every map is faster to loot and more likely to pay.

The short version

  • There are six presets: Normal, Nightmare, Early Hell, Midgame Hell, Endgame Hell and Endgame Hell without runewords.
  • Pick by your gear, not the preset's description, which still uses old difficulty names.
  • Magic find stacks from your character, the difficulty, Ether nodes and your mercenary's gear.
  • No magic find cap has been confirmed for Season 10.

Setting up the loot filter

Open the filter from the context menu or bind it to a key in the options. Pick the preset that matches your gear:

PresetUse it for
NormalLeveling through the campaign
NightmareOnce you wear Superior gear or better
Early HellFarming maps after level 100
Midgame and Endgame HellGeared characters. These hide a lot, so check your target uniques still show

Choose a highlight preset for your build type, such as Physical, Arcane or Poison, and set the highlight colour to something that stands out from your skill effects. Show Loot Names has its own key, and you can import filters other players share.

What to hide

  • Leveling: leave most things visible.
  • Nightmare: hide low tier items, but keep socketed gear and runeword bases.
  • Hell and Inferno: hide anything you would not wear or sell. Keep A and S tier Satanics, target charms, useful rings and amulets, and any runes, gems and jewels you use.

Patch 7.0.6 fixed filters resetting, which had hit PS5 players at every login. If an Abyssal Chest will not open, turn the filter off, open it and turn it back on. Advice summarised from Metaroad's guide.

How magic find works

The working model is that your total magic find is your character's, plus the difficulty's, plus Ether nodes, plus your mercenary's. Panic Art has not published the formula. Your mercenary's magic find counts on kills but does not show on your character sheet, which is why many players put magic find gear on a Knight. Our mercenary guide covers that setup.

Season 10 buffed many magic find Ether nodes, but most only work inside one mechanic. The Eternity Codex magic find roll dropped to 12 to 20 percent, Abyssal Chest magic find went up in 7.0.2, and Dragon's Blessing was nerfed. No cap or diminishing returns have been confirmed this season, so test changes by running the same content with and without them. Gold find is separate and has no diminishing returns in Odyssey.

Where magic find comes from

  • Gear and relics. Jefre's Subscription, Token of Luck, Fortune Card and Newt Tail are the magic find relics, as the relics guide lists.
  • Ether nodes such as Back to Basics, Fortune of Shadows and Amplified Magic Find. See the Ether Tree guide.
  • Higher difficulties.
  • Your mercenary's gear.

Filters and bots

A tight loot filter matters even more when a bot is looting. MUSA's Hero Siege bot fights with the skills you assign, mines ore, picks up what passes your loot filter, stashes a full bag and resets the map. Panic Art bans for automation online, so read our guide to cheats, trainers and bots before you decide.
