Torchlight Infinite Moto guide: every trait and which to pick

The minion commander. How Moto's Synthetic Troops work and why the self-destructing Moto 2 is the better pick.

Commander Moto is the minion hero of Torchlight Infinite. He fights through Synthetic Troops, and his two traits use them in opposite ways. Order Calling keeps them alive and overloaded, while Charge Calling sends them in as bombs. Moto 2 is the stronger pick, A tier as a starter and in the endgame.

The short version

  • Moto 1, Order Calling, gives all your minions Overload after you cast a summon skill.
  • Moto 2, Charge Calling, makes your troops charge enemies and self-destruct.
  • Moto 2 is A tier both as a starter and in the endgame. Moto 1 is C tier as a starter.
  • Minion builds let your troops take the hits, which makes Moto forgiving to play.

Moto's traits

Moto 1: Order Calling

Within four seconds of casting a summon skill, all your minions gain Overload and deal much more damage, and Modularization skills lose almost all of their cooldown. The nodes extend Overload, add minion speed and regeneration, and can give troops a temporary Overload with a limited lifespan.

Moto 2: Charge Calling

The trait skill lets you summon one more Synthetic Troop at a time, and all your minions charge enemies and explode on contact for physical area damage. The nodes add Mechanical Parts that boost minion damage when picked up, an extra support skill slot, and damage that scales with your minions' life or attack speed.

Trait mechanics are summarised from the Torchlight Infinite database. Numbers change between seasons, so check the database or the in-game hero screen for current values.

Which Moto trait to pick

Pick Moto 2. Charge Calling is A tier as a starter and in the endgame, and the self-destruct loop clears packs fast. Moto 1 and Moto 2 can sit tiers apart, so check the number on any build guide you follow.

The rankings come from our Torchlight Infinite tier list, which is based on how traits finished SS13 Afterlight. Our classes guide compares Moto with every other hero.

Tips for playing Moto

  • Minion damage and minion speed are your main stats. Your own weapon damage matters much less.
  • With Charge Calling, pick up the Mechanical Parts your troops drop. They boost minion damage.
  • Moto is one of the safer heroes to play, because minions draw attention away from you.

For how traits fit together with skills, talents and gear, see the builds guide.

Moto for farming

Moto 2 farms comfortably because the troops do the fighting. Our leveling guide also lists it as a good campaign starter. MUSA's Torchlight Infinite bot reads your equipped skills from the game, so it fights with whatever Moto build you have set up. Automation breaks the game's rules, and our bot safety guide explains the risk.
