Torchlight Infinite new season checklist: what carries over
Your heroes and Pactspirits come with you, your characters and currency do not. What carries over, and what to do in the last week and on day one.
Every few months Torchlight Infinite starts a new season on fresh servers. Your old characters are not deleted, but they are not coming with you either. Knowing exactly what carries over decides what is worth doing in the last week of a season.
The short version
- When a season ends, its characters and items move to the permanent server. To play the new season you make a new character.
- Unlocked heroes, hero traits, Pactspirits and appearances are account-wide and carry over.
- Anything bought with Primocryst or real money is permanent, apart from Auction House booth tabs.
- The season pass and Auction Booth tabs expire and have to be bought again.
What happens when a season ends
Each season runs on its own seasonal servers. When it ends, every character and item from that season is merged into the permanent server. Nothing is deleted, and you can keep playing those characters there, but they cannot join the new season. New season content is only on the new seasonal servers, with new characters.
What carries over, and what does not
| Carries over | Stays behind or expires |
|---|---|
| Unlocked heroes and hero traits | Your seasonal characters (moved to the permanent server) |
| Pactspirits | Items, gear and Flame Elementium on those characters |
| Appearances and cosmetics | The season pass |
| Primocryst and Insight Crystals | Auction Booth tabs |
| Anything bought with Primocryst or real money, such as inventory and vault slots |
The practical upshot: currency and gear are seasonal, account unlocks are permanent. Flame Elementium you hoard at the end of a season will not help you in the next one. This summary is based on answers on the Steam forums; check the patch notes each season in case the rules change.
The last week of a season
- Spend your Flame Elementium. It will not follow you, so use it on anything that makes the rest of the season more fun, or on gear for a character you plan to keep playing on the permanent server.
- Finish your season pass rewards before the pass expires.
- Unlock heroes or traits you want next season, since those carry over.
- Write down your build. Talents, skill links and gear stats are easier to rebuild from notes than from memory.
Day one of the new season
- Pick a starter that clears on no gear. Our tier list has the current picks, and we update it once the new season settles.
- Push through the campaign without clearing everything. The leveling guide covers the fastest route.
- Sell seasonal items early. New season currencies and materials fetch the most Flame Elementium in the first days, before everyone has them.
- Unlock Timemarks steadily rather than jumping ahead, and set up a farming loop at the highest one you clear comfortably.
If you bot
A new season usually comes with a big patch, and bots need updating to match it. MUSA updates itself when it starts, so the fix reaches you automatically, but give it time before you rely on it on day one. Our guide to botting a new season has a plan for the first week.
Common questions
Do I lose my character when the Torchlight Infinite season ends?
No. It moves to the permanent server with its items. You just cannot bring it into the new season.
Do heroes and Pactspirits carry over to the new season?
Yes. Unlocked heroes, traits, Pactspirits and appearances belong to your account and carry over.
Does Flame Elementium carry over?
No. Currency and items stay with your seasonal characters on the permanent server.
