Torchlight Infinite's thirteenth season, Afterlight, launched on 16 July 2026. It adds a new Netherrealm mechanic built around escorting the dead, a new trait for Selena, a timed challenge mode, and a batch of quality of life changes that make trading and mapping less tedious.

The short version

  • The season mechanic is the Funeral Procession: escort a coffin through the map while you clear the monsters it attracts. Faster clears mean better loot.
  • Selena gets a new trait, Dance of the Deep, which lets her Terra skills move with her.
  • Lunaria, last season's mechanic, is now permanent, with less grind attached.
  • New: the Ascension Trial challenge mode, market price tracking, mapping presets and bulk trade settlement.

The Funeral Procession

Afterlight casts you as a Night Watcher guiding departed souls to the underworld. In the Netherrealm you find unnamed coffins. Light the lantern next to one and a procession starts, carrying the coffin along a path while the light draws monsters towards it. Your job is to kill them fast enough that the procession keeps moving.

The lantern tells you how you are doing.

  • Green means you are clearing fast, and the loot is at its best.
  • Yellow means you are slowing down.
  • Red means the procession has stopped until you deal with the enemies around it.

Because the reward is tied to clear speed, Afterlight favours heroes with big area damage. That is a large part of why Selena 2 and Erika 1 rank so high this season. Our SS13 tier list covers the rest.

Selena's new trait: Dance of the Deep

SS13 adds Dance of the Deep for Tide Whisper Selena. Her older traits cast from a fixed spot. With this one, her Terra skills travel with her across the battlefield, so she can keep damaging while she moves. It is a big reason Selena 2 is one of the strongest farmers this season, especially in the Funeral Procession, where standing still costs you.

The Ascension Trial

The new challenge mode strings maps together against a time limit. You clear them in succession, dealing with events and bosses along the way, and earn binding crafting materials and spirit selection chests. It is a test of how fast and how safely your build clears, much like the Funeral Procession on a larger scale.

Lunaria becomes permanent

Lunaria, the SS12 mechanic, stays in the game as permanent content. XD adjusted it to cut the progression burden and improve farming efficiency. Legendary Harps are now part of core progression, which takes some of the randomness out of crafting.

Quality of life changes

  • Market price tracking, so you can see how an item's price has moved before you buy or sell.
  • Presets for mapping materials, which saves setting up the same map modifiers every run.
  • Bulk settlement of trade profits instead of claiming each sale one by one.
  • Bulk skill upgrades.
  • A new main city, a visual overhaul of the Netherrealm devices, updated hero appearances and new icons for legendary gear.

What changed for farming

Farming guides for this season rank Afterlight's own mechanic, Lunaria, the Cube and Blacksail among the most profitable things to run. The Cube drops Desire Crystals, and Sandlord's Sandalwood Incense sold for hundreds of Flame Elementium in the first weeks. One change went the other way: Dream Talking no longer drops from Nightmare, so that route lost much of its early season value.
