Torchlight Infinite Auction House guide: buying, selling and flipping

The Trade House is where most Flame Elementium is made. How to unlock it, list items, check prices, avoid the common mistakes and what flipping is worth.

The Auction House, called the Trade House in game, is where Torchlight Infinite players buy and sell everything for Flame Elementium. It opens at level 60, and for most players it earns more FE than anything that drops directly. Knowing what sells and checking prices before you list are the two habits worth learning first.

The short version

  • The Auction House unlocks automatically at level 60. Booth slots grow as you level, and extra tabs can be bought.
  • Use Check Price before you buy or list anything. Prices move every day, especially early in a season.
  • Embers, beacons, compasses, memories and good legendaries sell the most reliably.
  • Every sale pays a small tax in the currency you receive.

Unlocking it and booth slots

The Auction House opens automatically when a character reaches level 60. Your booth is where your listings live. Guides from earlier seasons describe 3 free slots at level 60, 6 at level 75 and 9 at level 90, shared across your characters, with more available as paid booth tabs. Booth tabs are one of the few purchases that expire with the season, as our new season checklist notes.

How to list an item

  1. Open the Trade House and go to My Booth.
  2. Pick the item from your inventory.
  3. Check the market price first, then set your price, the quantity and the currency you want paid in.
  4. Check every field again, especially the currency, and confirm the listing.
  5. Collect your earnings from the booth once it sells.

The currency field catches people out. Listing an item for 100 Flame Sand when you meant 100 Flame Elementium is an expensive mistake, and there is no undo once someone buys it.

Trade tax

The Trade House takes a tax from what you earn. According to the Torchlight Infinite database, the system deducts currency from your income, and the exact amount only shows when you claim it. Flame Elementium Vouchers, which season events hand out as tax vouchers, let you claim some tax back. The tax is small on a single sale and adds up over a season of trading, which matters most for flipping.

Price checking

  • Use the Check Price button before you buy or list. The price check is cached, so it can lag behind the live market by a little.
  • Use the price filter to hide listings outside your range. It helps you spot fair prices and avoid accidents.
  • For legendaries, check the corroded and the uncorroded version separately. The same item can be worth very different amounts.
  • Condition groups let you search for specific affixes across item types, which is how you find the exact gear your build needs.

Be suspicious of prices that look too good. Double check the item and its affixes before you buy, because a cheap listing is usually cheap for a reason.

What sells

ItemWhy it sells
EmbersEvery crafter uses them, all season long
Beacons and compassesEveryone farming the Netherrealm needs them
Memories and Memory ScrapsHigh demand early in a season
Seasonal currenciesOften the most valuable drops in the first weeks, then fall quickly
Legendaries with good rollsA good roll can be worth hundreds of FE more than a bad one

Timing counts too. Prices are highest in the first week of a season, when few players have reached the endgame and demand is high. Our currency guide explains what each currency is used for, which tells you who will buy it.

Flipping

Flipping means buying items below their usual price and selling them at the market price. In Torchlight Infinite it works best with currencies and commodities that trade in volume, such as embers and beacons, since their prices are easy to track. Guides also suggest trading lower currencies up into Flame Elementium when the exchange rate is in your favour.

Keep the tax and the price check delay in mind. A margin of a few FE disappears after tax, so flips are only worth it when the gap is large or the volume is high. Flipping also needs time spent watching the market, so for most players farming more and selling smartly earns more for the same hours.

Feeding the market

Everything you sell has to be farmed first, and the more maps you clear, the more embers, beacons and legendaries you have to list. The Flame Elementium farming guide covers where the best drops come from. MUSA's Torchlight Infinite bot farms maps and picks up the loot while you are away, and stashes gear when your bags fill, so you only have to sort and sell. Automation breaks the game's rules, so read the bot safety guide first.

Buying FE from outside sellers usually goes through Auction House trades too, and those trades are easy for XD to spot. Our page on buying Flame Elementium explains why that is risky.

Common questions

When does the Auction House unlock in Torchlight Infinite?

Is there a tax on the Auction House?

Yes. A small amount of currency is deducted from your earnings when you claim them. Flame Elementium Vouchers let you claim some of it back.

What is the best thing to sell?

Embers, beacons, compasses and memories sell steadily. Early in a season, seasonal currencies and good legendaries often sell for the most.

Only on items that trade in volume and when the margin is clearly bigger than the tax. For most players, farming and selling earns more for the time.
